COPYRIGHT - Tarantino v. Gawker, and Harper & Row v. Nation Enterprises and Zacchini.

Tarantino's two-count complaint for copyright infringement and contributory copyright infringement: here.

What Gawker did - publicize Tarantino's new script.

The news reporting defense was dealt with in Harper & Row, here (Wikipedia) and here (the case).

Zacchini v. Scripps-Howard (decided 5-4, concerning rights of publicity and use of entire human cannonball act) is here (Wikipedia), and here (the case).

" The broadcast of a film of petitioner's entire act poses a substantial threat to the economic value of that performance, since (1) if the public can see the act free on television it will be less [433 U.S. 562, 563]   willing to pay to see it at the fair, and (2) the broadcast goes to the heart of petitioner's ability to earn a living as an entertainer." - C.J. White's opinion regarding this right of publicity case.
